How I Got Involved Greetings in the Name of the Lord Jesus Christ! My name is Joe Shelton. I am the administrator of 2nd Chance Christian Newsletter, a ministry that provides Bibles and Bible lessons to inmates all across the USA. My involvement in 2ndCCN began in the winter of 2005. I was approached by 2ndCCN founder, Mark Beha. At the time, Mark was looking for help in working on the ministry's website... being a bit of a computer "geek," he thought I might be a good person to approach. I had been praying for an opportunity to serve the Lord, but had so far come up empty. This was a golden opportunity, I thought, to reach people that might not otherwise be reached with the Gospel of Christ! And what a tool it has been! Before long, Mark had asked me if I would mind handling some of the inmate correspondence... I jumped at the chance. Then, he asked me if I'd like to come with him to visit some inmates from time to time. Again, I jumped at the opprotunity. God was openening doors of opportunity for me to serve! When Mark began spending more and more time away from home, on deputation, my involvement with 2ndCCN grew deeper and deeper. I was in charge of printing booklets, and newsletters. It wasn't long before I moved all the materials to my home, to speed my response times to prisoner requests for materials and Bibles. Finally, in the spring of 2007, Mark asked me to take up the helm of 2ndCCN, and to run it as my own personal ministry. I couldn't wait! What a blessing from the Lord! |
